Damage to land resources in developing countries including Indonesia has been a major issue in recent decades. One of the causes of the destruction of land resources is the practice of clearing new lands by means of burning either in primary forest or secondary for agricultural cultivation.
Lately the slash-burning issue is often discussed as a source of national and even regional problems. Fuel-burning systems are widely used by communities because they are the least expensive and easiest to implement in land clearing, even by large companies. As a result the longer the system is more difficult to control and supervised so often cause fire disaster in some places such as in Kalimantan and Sumatra. Furthermore, this system is mostly done on a large scale and at the same time, causing a lot of smoke that can disrupt kesahatan and transportation, even this smoke problem to disrupt neighboring countries like Malaysia, Singapore, Brunei and Philiphina
